Overview
In South Africa, SANS 10142 is the national standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring. To comply with this standard, every installation must be inspected and tested during erection and upon completion before being put into service. It is also a statutory requirement that every user or lessor of an electrical installation must have a valid Certificate of Compliance (CoC) for each installation. A CoC is only valid when it is accompanied by a test report in the format specified by SANS 10142-1.
A new edition, 3.1, of SANS 10142 was published in 2021. This edition includes updates on some installation requirements, verification, and certification. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every user of electricity to comply with this new edition 3.1.
This intensive and interactive two-day course will cover all the requirements for installing conductors, cables, distribution boards, circuit breakers, fuses, switchgear, motors, PV installations, earthing, bonding, protection, and more. The course will feature practical demonstrations and explain the testing, measurement, verification, and certification of low-voltage installations. Additionally, a step-by-step method for completing the CoC will be presented and elaborated upon.
